The Best Frozen Drink Recipes To Keep You Cool This Summer

Food & Drink | Toni | 5 Minute Read

Warm weather means only one thing: getting pissed in a park.

There is nothing quite like popping a hay fever tab, dusting off your (barely used) SPF, and hauling ass to Tesco’s to get picky bits and booze for the park. Nothing could improve this experience… or so you thought.

Picture this: it’s over 25 degrees (shock), you’ve managed to coordinate meeting up with all your mates, you’ve bought crisps AND dips, and (here’s the cherry on top)...you’ve made frozen cocktails for you and your gang. Who needs to chase down the ice cream man, when you can have your ice and get drunk off it too? It’s the perfect solution to beating the heat. Plus, you can get boozy while you do it.

Win-win.

Bust out your cooler boxes and clear space for ice in your freezer draws, because your summer is about to get a whole lot cooler with these delish frozen cocktail recipes.

22 Frozen Vodka Drinks That Will Be Your New Summer Obsession | Outside The Wine Box

1. Aperol & Lemonade Frozé

This is inspired by a drink that I had on a rooftop in Savannah, Georgia. I dream of this cocktail daily. It tastes like an Italian holiday in a drink. I acknowledge that it’s slightly ironic that I first had it in America, but don’t question it. All I can really say is that this is seriously boozy, seriously yummy, and seriously easy to make. Try it.

What you’ll need:

  • Aperol
  • Lemonade
  • Any bottle of Rosé
  • A whole orange (for garnish)

How to create the magic:

  • Freeze the Aperol, Rosé and lemonade: Place in ice cube trays and freeze at least 4-6 hours ahead of time.
  • Blend: In a blender, combine the frozen Aperol (2 ice cubes), frozen rosé (4 ice cubes), and lemonade (4 ice cubes). Blend just until smooth and no chunks of ice remain. Usually less than 30 seconds.
  • Pour and enjoy: Pour into your favourite cocktail glasses. Garnish with orange slices. Enjoy!

2. Sgroppino al limone

This one actually is Italian, so you’re bound to like it. Sorbet stans rise up (just not too quickly, cos this packs a seriously boozy punch!).

What you’ll need (serves 2):

  • 250ml chilled Prosecco
  • 30ml chilled vodka
  • 85ml frozen lemon sorbet
  • 1/4 tsp chopped fresh mint leaves

How to create the magic:

  • Freeze your champagne flutes.
  • Pour the Prosecco and vodka into the frosty champagne flutes, dividing equally.
  • Spoon a scoop of sorbet into each flute.
  • Sprinkle with mint and serve immediately.

3. Frozen Chilli & Mango Margarita

Spicy margs are undoubtedly the IT-girl drink of the summer season. One up all your basic marg drinkers by making yours frozen…and mango. Taking less than 10 minutes and using 10 ingredients, this recipe is super simple (yet super impressive). Don’t believe me? Go cop yourself a ripe af mango and try it out for yourself.

What you’ll need:

a) For the margarita:

  • 1 ripe mango
  • 200ml orange juice
  • 2 small limes
  • 3 shots of silver tequila
  • 1 shot of triple sec
  • 1 dash hot sauce
  • 1-3 tbsp agave nectar

b) For the rim (i.e. the best bit):

  • 1 lime wedge
  • 1 tsp Tajin/ chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt

How to create the magic:

  • Add all margarita ingredients to a blender and blend until creamy and smooth. Taste and adjust sweetness / strength of alcohol as desired.
  • To chill, blend in a large handful of ice cubes to make a frozen margarita.
  • Rim serving glasses with a lime wedge and immediately dip in salt/chilli powder mixture.
